What is WonHwaDo ?

WonhwaDo, a heavenly martial art, is not a martial art given only to a special country or a special race. It's not something that someone in a particular place does, or that is secretly kept secret only by some group.

Yuan is the heaven, the earth, and the person.

Wa is harmony, peace, and joy.

The road is the way to go, the way to return, and justice.

WonHwaDo is the most natural form of human physical activity, and our hearts are most pleased, and the movements that our hearts portray are like dances and martial arts, playing with each other. It's like being there.

WonhwaDo is the three-way road of "Mado," "Maidou," and "Budo."

Yuan

A circle is a harmonious pattern with no corners. Everything from the smallest to the largest is in harmony with each other in a circular or spherical shape.

To draw a circle, the center of the fixed point O is always required, and the size of the circle is determined by the distance from the fixed point O. This central point of the universe (not a three-dimensional space) has been called "heaven" since ancient times in Eastern thought.

The existence of this cosmos is also a circle, the shape of its origin is also a circle, and a round person with a sharp corner in our heart is a harmonious person and is called a personality person. The movement born from this heart is the "movement of the circle".

In WonHwaDo, the first technique to learn is "Rotating Offense and Defense". This rotation offense and defense is the movement of the circle.

There are three types of circles: "perfect circle ", "ellipse", and "thick circle". When a circle rotates while changing its angle, direction, and distance, it becomes a "sphere" over time. The big difference between other general martial arts and WonHwaDo is that ideas, theories, and practices take the form of 360-degree martial arts and are developed in everything from basic techniques to applied techniques and lifestyles.

sum

"Wa" refers to the state in which the world of the mind is "peaceful" and "harmonious". To put it simply, I mean that the "mind" and "body" are in a peaceful state without conflict, and that if there are two people, they are in harmony with each other.

The opposite of harmony is a conflict phenomenon, but conflict is a phenomenon that occurs when each other stands in the position of the subject or when each other stands in the position of the subject. The aspect of the existence of heaven and earth is not a conflicting relationship but a "Aioi" relationship, and it is in harmony and peaceful.

When people avoid conflict and follow the path of Aioi, peace will come and it will become a world of harmony. The root of world peace is to build peace in the world of one's heart. World peace is possible only by establishing a peaceful state and a harmonious state without the mind and body conflicting with each other. WonHwaDo's sum is a unity of mind and body, meaning that you and I build a peaceful and harmonious state, understand each other, and follow the path of Aioi.

road

There is a way to go and a way to return. There is a way to give and a way to receive, and the body goes the way that the heart desires. There is a 180 degree road to the front, a 180 degree road to the back, and a 360 degree road to the right, left, up and down.

The way people live in this heaven and earth is also circular and spherical. You can go in any direction, and the path is up to you. Every moment in the world of the mind is the path of decision, living and dying are the paths of the moment, and the happy and unhappy paths determine the eternal path.

The way back to heaven is our ultimate way and our final destination to reach. And now, I am walking on that heavenly road at this moment.

Spherical movement begins based on the movement of a vertical circle and a horizontal circle

The characteristic of WonHwaDo is that all the techniques are configured to draw a circle. With a vertical circle and a horizontal circle as the basic shape, the slope changes to finally draw a sphere.

The reason why it moves in a circular motion is that it can be sustained, eternal, and can be expanded in all directions. You can't do that with linear movements. The important conditions for that are the pattern (type), direction (angle), distance (magnitude), and speed.

Human behavior can be broadly divided into two types. It is a moving movement that goes and a movement that comes, a movement that sends and a movement that welcomes, a movement that pushes and a movement that pulls. In order to give this eternity, it becomes a circular motion.

When WonHwaDo's technique changes its circular movement, it can sometimes become a judo-like shape, an expression like taekwondo, or an aikido-like appearance.

Originally, I had no desire to start a new martial art. The ability of martial arts was no more than that of ordinary students.

However, a dozen years ago, we were able to show strange behavior through the spirit world. At that time, it was like some kind of dance to me, and I felt that this was a ghost phenomenon caused by lower spirits, so I was wary of it. "Isn't he given a warning because he is moving in a different direction from God's wishes?" Feeling that, I fasted and prayed all night long.

But one day, when the phenomenon didn't stop and it had been going on for three years, I decided to actively fight the spirit and drive it away.

Then, when I first started fighting, I noticed that the movements that I had thought of as a spiritual phenomenon or dance were actually martial arts.

The practice method is mind training through the spirit world.

From there, I turned around and started organizing the molds. However, I didn't need much time to organize and practice.

That's because the practice method is very unique. First, when a new pattern is shown through the spirit world, another spiritual person, I, practices the pattern for that spirit. While looking at the scene from the side, I point out different points and correct them.

First, I implanted an accurate image of the mold in my head. For that reason, I was able to learn very smoothly by actually practicing with my body.

However, there were some drawbacks.

It is true that each type is relatively easy to follow, but it was difficult to understand what kind of meaning and continuity they have. However, as the practice progressed, it was a series of wonders when it became clear how much each one had applied power.

Guidance in three stages, from the prototype of WonHwaDo's technique to the philosophy

On the other hand, I can't forget the existence of a person who appeared in the illusion and gave me specific guidance. That person's guidance spanned three stages.

At first, he taught me the technique that is the prototype of WonHwaDo. "Try this kind of action." I was ordered to evaluate my movements as "pass" and "fail", and when I brought the board, I was ordered to "kick" and said "OK". Keep me kicking from every position, direction and angle.

Next, I was taken to all martial arts dojos such as judo and taekwondo, where I was able to take a closer look at the training scene. There were many training methods and techniques that I had never seen before.

In the third stage, I was taken to a place like a library to read countless books on martial arts. It was a period of research to organize and systematize WonHwaDo ideologically.

Until then, I had been practicing only for personal training, but from around 1976, I decided to use this martial art as WonHwaDo, stop all my work, and concentrate on it as a martial artist. became.
